The camp facility is rented from the University of Washington. It's a little hard to describe if you haven't been there, but essentially it's a varied collection of structures tucked back into the woods across the bay from the town of Friday Harbor. Most students stay in the dorms - but wait, these are not the usual concrete monstrosities found on most college campuses. The dorms are fairly pleasant, mostly wooden structures built within the last decade or so. Most of the beds available are single beds in 2-person rooms, and when you pay the basic tuition that's what you get. Bedding, blankets and pillows are provided.

There are also a limited number of single dorm rooms, huts (funky but comfy) and some multi-person cottages. You can pay extra for an upgrade to one of these, on a first come, first served basis. The amount we charge for these is exactly what the University charges us. (See chart below).

We apologize for the confusion, but the situation is confusing for us too because we don't learn from the University how many of these upgrades will be available to the camp until after the first of the year. One of our biggest headaches every year is the assignment of housing. The system we've come up with this year is to have students send a separate check for the housing upgrade they want, then we keep a list showing when the check arrives, and we assign the housing as it becomes available, based on when we receive your check.

Spouses/Partners - If your non-musician spouse or partner is coming with you, we strongly recommend you stay at one of the many nice B&Bs in town, just half a mile from the camp. Our housing is so limited that if we provide lodging for non-participants, we may run out of room for other students.

For some people the shared dorm room is unacceptable, so if that's the case please email Dan Paulson at dan@fridayharborirish.com for the latest information on the availability of upgrades. If you don't mind taking your chances, just send in your registration form, tuition check, and a separate check for the housing upgrade.
